In 15 months, ServiceTrade grew its top-3 Google rankings by 153%, appeared in 14 times as many AI Overviews, and closed much of the organic traffic gap with competitors that have far more content and backlinks. Here’s how Full Send SEO and the ServiceTrade team did it.
ServiceTrade makes field service management software for commercial service contractors in fire protection, HVAC and mechanical. Its competitors include BuildOps, FieldEdge and Service Fusion, all of which have bigger content libraries, more ranking keywords and much larger backlink profiles. Full Send SEO partnered with ServiceTrade from April 2025 to July 2026 to find a more efficient way to compete in search.
The results at a glance
- +153.5% keywords in the top three positions: from 127 in April 2025 to 322 in July 2026.
- AI Overview appearances up from 24 to 344: ServiceTrade content is now cited in Google’s AI-generated answers about 14 times as often.
- Page-one rankings up from 460 to 819 keywords (positions 1–10).
- Domain Authority up from 36 to 38, backed by 20 contextual backlinks with an average DA of 58.
- 81% site health maintained while the site grew from 592 to 770 pages.
Fewer keywords, better rankings
The total number of keywords ServiceTrade ranks for barely changed over the engagement (4,697 in April 2025, 4,410 in July 2026). What changed was where those keywords rank. Rankings moved out of positions 21–100, where they bring almost no traffic, and onto page one, where buyers actually click.

ServiceTrade now holds the No. 1 position for high-intent, non-branded searches such as service dispatching software, fire maintenance software, mechanical contractor software, management software for HVAC, dispatch software for service companies and HVAC software that works with QuickBooks. These are the terms commercial contractors use when they’re actively shopping for software.
Ready for AI search
More and more software research starts in AI-generated answers, not a list of blue links. ServiceTrade went from 24 to 344 appearances in Google AI Overviews. We built that visibility on purpose: structured, entity-rich content and authority-building around emerging topics like commercial service AI and AI agents for service contractors.
Punching above its weight
By Semrush’s estimates, ServiceTrade has fewer ranking keywords (4.3K vs. 17.9K for BuildOps) and a much smaller backlink profile (11K vs. 41K) than its largest competitors. Even so, ServiceTrade grew its organic traffic to about 20.6K monthly visits over the past year. Over the same period, BuildOps and FieldEdge both declined. The gap that once looked insurmountable is now a few thousand visits.

The SEO process ServiceTrade followed
Site architecture and content reorganization
We reorganized content across the whole site so each commercial topic has one clear, authoritative page. This removed the keyword cannibalization that was splitting rankings between competing pages.
Targeted SEO content development
Instead of competing on volume, we focused new content on the trades and buying-stage questions where ServiceTrade could realistically win: fire protection, HVAC and mechanical contractors, dispatching, scheduling and accounting integrations.
Authority building
We worked with marketing outreach to gain 20 contextual backlinks on relevant publications, with an average Domain Authority of 58 and a high of 88. Each link targeted a strategic topic, from field service management software to agentic AI for service contractors.
Technical SEO maintenance
The site grew by 30% during the engagement, from 592 to 770 pages. Ongoing technical monitoring kept its Semrush Site Health score steady at 81–82% the whole time.
YouTube optimization, training and process
We optimized ServiceTrade’s YouTube channel for search. We also trained the in-house team and set up repeatable SEO processes, so the program could keep growing after our engagement ended.
